Green energy generator

There are many large companies that are rapidly switching towards renewable, green sources of energy, but this does not do much for the average consumer that still has to pay large electric bills and has little control over macro market forces and trends.

There are options for creating our own green energy such as the following:

Google buys Oklahoma wind energy

Google Energy fuels its Oklahoma plant with energy from wind power in Oklahoma: http://www.rechargenews.com/energy/wind/article291445.ece

Next Era is the largest generator of wind and solar energy in the country and it has the capacity to produce over 8,500 megawatts from green renewable sources.  That is enough green energy to to power 2,465,000 homes on a regular basis (assuming a constant energy output).  That is more than one-third of all homes in the San Francisco Bay area!

Current estimates put the total percentage of renewable energy consumed in the U.S. at only ~seven percent.  Energy from petroleum and coal add up to roughly 65 percent.  This means that we need a nearly eightfold increase in renewable energy sources to make them the dominant form of energy in the U.S.  so get out your bikes and solar panels and rock on!

Willie Nelson and Coldplay sing about being green

This is a great overview of getting back to the basics and going green by Willie Nelson and Coldplay:

Creating green energy at home

Energy independence is a hot topic in this era of peak oil, diplomatic failure and widespread change among large oil-producing nations. There are ways that we can create sustainable energy by ourselves.  Solar panels are often prohibitively expensive for most people, but this website shows in clear steps how to create solar panels from basic materials and keep cost very low compared to that of a new installed solar panel system:
